I am so excited to announce that I am now writing for Spoon University at Pace (my college) and this is one of the first recipes we will share. Basically if you haven’t heard of it already- Spoon University is an every day food resource for college students, to help them eat more intelligently.

Each University can start a Chapter in Spoon University if they go through the process of finding a Chapter Leader and getting the petitions signed (over 300 signatures). I’ve been working with our Chapter Leader and awesome writers/photographers to come up with our first six articles that will be released soon. Keep an eye out.

This classic margarita recipe was inspired by one of my friends in class who made a visual story with these images, claiming she had what she thought was the best margarita recipe. The photographs in this recipe are by Heather Hayes, a fellow Spoon member and friend.

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1-oz. Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1½-oz. Tequilia
  • 1-oz. Triple Sec
  • ½-oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1 Slice of Lime Garnish
  • Salt or Sugar

Directions:

  1. Pour enough salt or sugar on a small plate to cover it. Rub the glass with a sliced lime and dip the glass into the salt or sugar, make sure the rim is covered. Feel free to skip this step if you don’t have the goods.
  2.  Add lime juice, patron silver – or your favorite tequila, triple sec, and simple syrup in a glass. Stir. If you have a shaker, please go ahead and use it.
  3. Garnish with a slice of lime and ice cubes if desired.

Special thanks to Heather for photos and recipe inspiration.
